Lancer football team remains undefeated

 

The Avalon Lancers football team is undefeated in league after beating St. Michaels Prep 85-0 last Friday.

This Lancer team is quickly gaining momentum and getting stronger as they prepare for the league championship game this Friday.

Senior Quarterback Jerod Long set an Avalon Football record last Friday by throwing 8/11 for 248 yards and seven touchdowns.

Senior Quarterback Jerod Long set an Avalon Football record last Friday by throwing 8/11 for 248 yards and seven touchdowns.

His seven touchdowns were to senior running back Jose Carmen Silva with two touchdown receptions, senior receiver Jason Cisneros with two touchdown receptions, senior tight end Clark Morris with two touchdown receptions and senior fullback Cesar Ventura.

Junior defensive end Patrick Sitzes led Avalon with 12 tackles and had an additional 3.5 sacks.

On the other side senior Harrison Hobbs tacked on eight tackles for the game and had 4.5 sacks keeping him #1 in the State and moving him up to #4 in the nation for sacks.

Junior linebacker David Luciano Torres Zeller had three interceptions in the game and one he returned for a touchdown and senior cornerback Cesar Ventura had two interceptions as well.

The Lancers will be playing their league championship game this Friday, Oct. 30, against Rolling Hills prep, which are also undefeated in league.

Kickoff is at 5 p.m. at Joe Machado Field. This is also a special game for the Lancer football team, as they honor 10 of their seniors at halftime for Senior Night.
